Industry Experts to Gather in Abu Dhabi to Discuss Today’s Challenges in Upstream Data Management (UDM)
Abu Dhabi, UAE – On 22–24 September this year, Praxis Global Research will host its 3rd E&P Data and Knowledge Management Interactive Technology Workshop, a gathering of international and regional experts and industry leaders from the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry. The event will review the current challenges related to the Upstream Data Management (UDM) processes, and would discuss the evolving dimensions of data sciences and data management practices as implemented within major E&P companies.
In the upstream oil and gas business, companies generate and acquire enormous amounts of data on daily basis. Data are shaped in different formats or structures and need to be handled wisely like any other asset within the organization. Easy and secure access to these data is becoming a challenging task where geo-scientists and engineers are wasting significant amount of time searching for trusted and useful information.
Several statistics show that geoscientists and engineers spend 50 to 75% of their time searching for data. This figure has been the same since the 90s. Millions of dollars have been spent on enhancing data management practices for oil & gas industry and stake holders still face issues with regards to data availability. The situation has encouraged data scientists to think out of the box for methodologies, strategies and solutions that can overcome this dilemma and enhance the overall satisfaction with E&P data management activities.
Some major oil & gas companies have started to invest in standard frameworks and solutions that are widely used in other industries and have proven values in addressing business needs. Example of these frameworks and solutions are: Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks, Data Governance (DG) frameworks, Business Analysis (BA) methodologies, Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, Data Virtualization, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, etc.
The E&P Data and Knowledge Management workshop aims to further discuss these challenges and solutions through the leadership of the Executive Steering Committee chaired by Ghassan Mayassi, Managing Director of CIM Consulting. The committee and speaker panel is composed of industry leaders such as Jess B. Kozman, South East Asia Regional Manager Exploration and Production Applications – Information Management, MUBADALA PETROLEUM; Richard Mohan David, Data & Information Architect, ABU DHABI COMPANY FOR ONSHORE OIL OPERATIONS (ADCO); El Fatih Wadidi, Data Management Section Head, SUDAPET; and Tamás Krasznavölgyi, Subsurface Data Management Leader, MOL – to name a few.
Among the key topics that will be discussed are: Complex E&P Data Management, Innovation in Data Management, Data Management and Business Values, and Data Management Technologies and Capabilities.
Join the industry experts in Abu Dhabi to discuss the advancements and relevant best practices to securing the future of Data Management in the oil and gas industry.
