German Company Lanxess Expands Its Plant in Gastonia in USA

Specialty chemicals group Lanxess (Germany) will add a second production line to its compounding facility for high-tech plastics in Gastonia (North Carolina, USA), thereby expanding annual production at the plant by 20,000 metric tons to 40,000 metric tons. The expansion project is assessed at USD 15 million. The construction is expected to start in H2 2014, and the production is likely to be launched in 2016. The company’s plant at Gastonia manufactures polyamide high-tech plastics Durethan and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), dubbed Pocan.
