CHEMMONITOR.COM - A major Indian fertilizer producer, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (RCF), rejected its idea to construct a fertilizer plant at Shama district (Ghana) as the government of Ghana did not guarantee gas supplies for this fertilizer project. The Ghana government prioritized power generation over fertilizer production. The rejected project was assessed at USD 1 billion.

India and Ghana signed an MoU in 2010 to build a urea facility with a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes at Shama district.
