CHEMMONITOR.COM - US-based Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem) and Mexichem, a Mexico-headquartered company, formed a JV to build a plant at the OxyChem site in Ingleside (Texas, the U.S.). The construction of pipelines and storage in Markham (Texas, the U.S.) also falls within the JV’s plans.

The cracker is predicted to have a capacity of about 1.2 billion pounds of ethylene each year.

Practically all of the ethylene produced by the would-be facility will be used as a feedstock in the making of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM).
