CHEMMONITOR.COM – The Houston-headquartered US petrochemicals company Shell Chemicals LP reached the decision to continue the force majeure for the inventories of ethylene oxide (EO). Its plant at Geismar site is still idle after the hurricane occurred in late summer. The shutdown impacted also monoethlyne glycol (MEG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) supplies.

The unit’s output reaches about 402,000 metric tons per year.

In late August, values of MEG showed an upward surge.
