CHEMMONITOR,COM – JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation, a Japan-based refinery and petrochemical company, is going to shut down its petrochemical facility in Muroran (Japan) due to decrease in demand for gasoline in Japan. The plant is scheduled to be finally closed in March 2019 and to be turned into a terminal for storing and shipping oil products.

The Muroran facility initially comprised a refinery with an annual production capacity of 180,000 barrels per day. In 2014, it was converted to a petchem plant.
