CHEMMONITOR.COM - BASF (Germany) and Renmatix Inc. (the US) agreed on the joint development of Plantrose technology, designed by Renmatix Inc. The Plantrose process enables the production of industrial sugars from non-edible biomass feedstock.

The large quantities of these industrial sugars, available at a competitive price, make it possible to produce environment-oriented and cost-efficient bio-based products.

Industrial sugars are mainly utilized in biofuels and basic chemicals.

In January 2012, BASF has invested USD 30 million in Renmatix Inc.
