CHEMMONITOR.COM - German-based chemical company with headquarters in Ludwigshafen BASF SE opposes the decision of the EC to impose restrictions on the major seed treatment uses of the insecticide fipronil in the EU. The company brought an action against the EU’s decision.

BASF is convinced that the restriction on fipronil uses is unlikely to contribute to protecting bees as there are multiple and complex factors causing the decline of the bee population. Moreover, fipronil is a vital technology, which is widely used in modern agriculture.
