CHEMMONITOR.COM – The US market is predicted to depend on imported butadiene in the near future due to switching from crude oil and naphtha utilization to natural gas. The imbalance between butadiene production and the consumption of the material is on an upward trajectory in the domestic market.

Natural gas contains less C4 hydrocarbons for butadiene manufacturing in comparison with crude oil or naphtha. Consequently, the country will need enhanced amount of imported butadiene in line with growing demand for the product.
