CHEMMONITOR.COM – The world bioplastics market expands owing to the development of manufacturing methods.

Currently, the annual output is more than 1.1 million metric tons. It will possibly reach 7 million metric tons by 2016.

The non-biodegradable group will push on the estimated production growth. Great attention is paid to bio-based grades of polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

At present, the production of partially bio-based PET is the largest sector of the bioplastics industry (more than 38%).
