CHEMMONITOR.COM – The Colorado-headquartered US renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels company Gevo, Inc. has temporarily suspended its isobutanol manufacturing. The plant will again produce ethanol. Isobutanol production is likely to recommence next year.

Isobutanol is applied in gasoline as well as in plastics, fibers and paints making.

Currently, the production of the material is not profitable for Gevo, Inc. Ethanol manufacturing is predicted to save money and cut down expanses.

The company launched isobutanol production in late spring of 2012.
