CHEMMONITOR.COM - Chemical companies in Latin America are to increase their efficiency in order to be more competitive if compared to North American producers. North America’s chemical producers are better-placed to benefit from their cheap raw materials out of shale gas.

Currently, chemical producers in Latin America are in a worse situation than companies in the USA regarding competitiveness. However, the situation was opposite in 2007.

At the moment, the producers of the Latin America region need to modify the strategy of doing business since their current model is highly inefficient. Specifically, South American companies should focus on cost optimization.
