Slight Upturn Viewed in Petchem Industry in Europe

CHEMMONITOR.COM – The Northwest Europe polypropylene (PP) and styrene-butadiene-rubber (SBR) markets are showing a slight improvement on the back of improved macroeconomic data and better economic situation in Europe.

In August, European prices for SBR rose by USD 175 per metric ton (11%) to about USD 1,730 per metric ton in comparison with USD 1,555 per metric ton FOB Rotterdam. In the local truck market, the commodities showed an upturn of EUR 190 per metric ton (16%) and were assessed at EUR 1,380 per metric ton on a FD NWE basis, up from almost EUR 1,200 per metric ton.
